In order to understand what makes the entrepreneurs in today’s workforce great, it is helpful to look back into history. Historically speaking, Andrew Carnegie and Henry Ford were the greatest entrepreneurs in their time. Kids still learn about them in school to this day because of their impact on the American market.

Andrew Carnegie was an immigrant from Scotland who was born into the lower class. When his family moved to Pennsylvania, his family lived a better lifestyle. He grew up to found the Carnegie Steel Company, which grew to become one of the biggest companies in the history of the United States. Carnegie didn’t stop at his booming company. He invested in various car companies and oil reserves. At the time of his death, his net worth was about $350 million, which would be close to %5.5 billion in the year 2020.

Henry Ford was born in the states and grew up in Michigan. He grew up well-off, but not wealthy. Ford worked with Thomas Edison to create prototypes and used them to establish the Detroit Automobile company. He failed at this attempt and his next company, Cadillac Motor Car Company, before having success with Ford Motor Company. The third time was a charm for Ford!

Oprah Winfrey is a great example of an American entrepreneur. She was a victim of sexual assault at age nine and became pregnant at age 14. She lost the child during childbirth. Despite these obstacles, she started her TV show in 1983 and founded Harpo Studios in 1988. She also co-founded oxygen Media and has a net worth of $2.6 Billion in 2020.

Bill Gates is one of the most popular American Entrepreneurs. He’s the second-richest person in the world thanks to his net worth of over $104.7 billion. He started tinkering with personal computers at an early age and landed a spot at Harvard. He eventually dropped out to create Microsoft with Paul Allen and Steve Ballmer.

Larry Page is the co-founder of Google. He started Google as a doctorate student at Stanford with his partner Sergy Brin with an initial investment of just $100,000. Google was a massive success, and Page’s net worth is over $50 billion as of the year 2020.
