The United States is a country that was built by entrepreneurs. It was wealthy landowners like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson who drafted up the Constitution and fought for liberty from the English Crown. During the 19th century, cities like New York and Philadelphia became ground zero for the industrial revolution. The quintessential American symbol of a lone pioneer going out and searching for glory in the limitless frontier is a perfect representation for becoming an entrepreneur.

This is a country that was built by entrepreneurs and these are three of the most notable.

Henry Ford
His last name is known around the world. This is the man who brought the automobile to the masses, and therefore shaped the way our country operated. It is no secret that the USA has a love affair with cars. Most of the country’s cities were built with cars in mind, and one can travel from coast to coast using massive interstate highways. None of this would have been possible without Mr. Henry Ford and his radical vision of a car that could be owned and operated by the average middle class American.

He was a true pioneer who strove to success even in his twilight years. Ford even strove for the presidency at one time, although he was ultimately unsuccessful.

Steve Jobs
There has been some posthumous debate over whether Steve Jobs was really the tech genius that so many have made him out to be. After all, he didn’t actually invent Everything that is closely associated with his name and his early years with Apple were tumultuous to put it nicely.

Nevertheless, he deserves a place on this list as a man who sold a vision to the masses. A vision of a tech integrated society which has since swept the globe.

Larry Page
With a current net worth of over $50 billon, Larry Page is one of the richest and most influential Americans living today. As one of the founders of tech giant Google, it is fair to say that this man has left an indelible mark on the world at large. Currently serving as the CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc., it will be interesting to see where Mr. Page goes next.
